What Have You Read?

Aimee had this on her blog and challenged everyone to reply. I'd like to continue the challenge.

The Big Read, an initiative by the National Endowment for the Arts, has estimated that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they’ve printed. How did you do?

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.

Wow! I don't think I'll be able to compete, Maren! However I really appreciate a list like this! Sometimes I just don't know what to read next!

I've read 47. I started 5 but never finished them for various reasons. (Has anyone actually read all of Moby Dick? If so, does that person still like to read?) I was sad to see that I hadn't even heard of more than a dozen of these titles. On your recommendation, I will check out Notes from a Small Island. I've never heard of it, and it's nice to go into the book with a Maren recommendation and zero prior plot knowledge. I recommend Tess and The Bell Jar. After that, read Gone With the Wind so you can channel your negativity at a female character to counteract all the residual anger toward males.
